Indonesian as a Foreign Language Education is known as BIPA (in English known as IFLE). IFLE was established on 24th March 2020 with the decree number of the National Accreditation 20/SK/BAN-PT/Min-Akred/M/III/2020. Based on the nomenclature, this study program belongs to the language education study. This IFLE Study Program was established to meet the needs of professional IFLE teachers, both at the domestic and abroad in order to support the government program of the  Republic of Indonesia, namely the internationalization of the Indonesian language, making Indonesian one of the languages of instruction in the United Nations (UN) in 2045.

The scope and expertise are the teachings of the Indonesian Language for foreigners. Graduates will become professional IFL teachers who have the ability to teach Indonesian to foreigners at BIPA institutions at home and abroad, the School of Cooperation Education Unit, the Indonesian Studies program at universities abroad, as well as the IFL teaching program and Indonesian culture as one of the cultural diplomacy in various Embassies of the Republic of Indonesia in the world. 

IFLE study program is affiliated with The Association of Teachers and IFLE Teaching and Activist Affiliation, an international professional association, language development, and cultivation agencies, cooperative education unit schools, Indonesian Embassies in various countries, and various foreign embassies in Indonesia.

Based on the analysis of necessity in various IFLE organizing departments in the domestic and abroad, IFLE teachers who have pedagogical competence, professional competence, social competence, personality competence, intracultural competence, and the ability to use Information Communication Technology (ICT) very well. Therefore, the curriculum applied is a curriculum that refers to Indonesia Qualification Framework (known as KKNI) level 8 by providing needs-based courses in the study field.
